Dr. Sunil Dasgupta teaches political science at a state university in Maryland. He is also the producer of a cheeky local and state news podcast called I Hate Politics, which aims to stem the decline in local news coverage using community voices. Over 380 episodes, IHP has asked local, state, and community leaders to take deep dives into education, housing, transportation, road safety, environment, energy, economic development, and labor to bring revealing insights and policy opportunities. IHP has built a unique repository of 100 long-form local and state candidate interviews. In 2022, he created a mobile app, IHPbot, which helped voters generate their best slate of candidates in the primary elections. Dr. Dasgupta ran for school board in Montgomery County in 2020. He lives in Aspen Hill with his wife, their three children, his mother, and the family dog.
